00:01 Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Operations Management. Operations Management is a multi-faceted, multi-disciplinary business practice that aims to create the highest level of efficiency as possible within an organization. Its main concern is converting materials and labor into goods and services as efficiently as possible so that the organization maximizes its profits. In this course, we will look at an overview of operations management and the impact of organization and structure on those operations. If your organization is not properly structured, then it is almost certain that your operations will not run smoothly. We will also look at product design and process, where the objective of these topics is to evaluate the impact of customer needs on the company's product or service design and process. Why is it important to design your products or services according to your customer needs? Because this will require your products and services to be ever-evolving according to your consumer needs.
01:01 S1: We will also examine supply chain management. In this course, we will look at supply chain management failures and the relationship of an organization with its suppliers. Also, we will look at capacity planning and facility layout. You will use and analyze the impact of facility planning on operations management, as well as evaluate capacity planning. Finally, we will look at, just-in-time and lean systems as operation management strategies. These strategies help an organization to be more efficient in their operations, thereby cutting costs and waste reduction and maximizing profits for the shareholders.
