I believe learning takes active engagement of both the student and the mentor. The atmosphere in the classroom should be supportive and collaborative for all. My role is not to provide answers but to guide students to discover the questions and answers.
I have always worked in some aspect of marketing and business systems development. I began as a quality control supervisor for a piston ring company where I designed and installed the company's first quality control system. My next position was as a PX store manager, (U.S. Army department store in Germany), where I advanced to a purchasing agent for the 4th Armed Division within three years.
After returning to Michigan, I began and have continued to teach marketing on the collegiate level. Throughout this time, I have stayed abreast with market developments by consulting in the areas of marketing and systems in the service and industrial sector.
My research includes pedagogy, marketing and lean systems.
